Update regarding my recent Washington DC Trip on Brenden’s behalf.
Posted by Heidi Greer Mosher under For Realty Professionals
I have always wanted to see the Cherry Blossoms in bloom in Washington DC; I never dreamed I would see them under these circumstances. On the bright side, it was a very welcome and uplifting enjoyment. The formal hearings went as well as can be expected at this point. We will wait about 8 weeks for a decision and even then, we have additional options if the decision does not go in our favor. I will persist without exception. It is a tragedy that Brenden attempted to take his own life and another tragedy that the military would discharge him without health care benefits and leave him to be a another number in the Medicare/Medicaid system. There are two items of determination in question. The first is whether attempted suicide is an act of misconduct. According to the Naval Code, suicide is a symptom of mental illness; therefore the first item in question is clearly incorrect. The second item concerns Brenden’s UA status while attempting to take his life. I will prove Brenden had one goal in leaving his command and that goal was to take his life. The signs were all there. He sold everything he owned, including his golf clubs and clothing while on active duty. If needed, I will obtain clear evidence and testimony regarding this action. Brenden was planning his suicide while on active duty. Brenden was not in a healthy state of mind and his intention in leaving his command was very clear.
While I am hopeful we will prevail in overturning this line of duty determination at the PEB formal hearing level, I do intend to use every resource I have to pursue justice for Brenden. I thank of the people who are praying for Brenden’s health and healing. I also thank all of the people who have offered their assistance. I certainly may need to call on REALTORS, Senators and Representatives as well as many other friends in this pursuit. Much Success! Heidi
