RED Day Success!
Posted by Heidi Greer Mosher under For Realty Professionals
Keller Williams Northwest announces a great success on the first ever RED Day, May 14, 2009! Our project focused on helping families to put food on their tables, with The Westminster Nazarene Church/Food Bank being the beneficiary of our food drive.
The food bank shared their story with us – a story of need. The food bank was suffering from food shortages due to the increased need in the community. Keller Williams Northwest agents collected over 130 large paper grocery bags full of food and non-perishables. Agents called on their farm areas, spheres of influence, personal neighborhoods and friends/family during the week prior to RED Day. There were several drop-off locations on RED Day – our office parking lot, where tents were set up for volunteers, the Metro North Newspaper office and the Church office. Agents brought bags of food by the office drop-off all day long, filling our transport truck for the delivery. A consumer visiting the bank asked what was happening, as she had seen RED shirts all over the community that day. Our donations were delivered to the church during the early evening hours. The next morning, we received a phone call from the food bank thanking us and letting us know their shelves were full and overflowing. The food bank said they were able to make many phone calls to needy families during the evening on RED Day to feed people immediately. In the end, we made a huge difference for many Westminster families. Together, we made a difference!
